How to Set Up Email Notifications in Shopify

Customise your order, shipping and account notification emails so they match your brand and answer questions.

Notification emails are opened more than any marketing campaign you will ever send. A few edits make them clearer and more reassuring.

1

Open notification settings

Go to Settings, then Notifications, where every customer and staff notification is listed.

2

Set your sender details

Configure the sender email and, ideally, authenticate your own domain so emails come from your address and land in inboxes.

3

Brand the templates

Use the branding settings for logo, colour and accent, which apply across every template at once.

4

Edit key templates

Start with Order confirmation, Shipping confirmation and Abandoned checkout. Add delivery expectations and a link to your policies.

5

Send test emails

Use the preview and send test email buttons and check how each template renders on a phone.

Note

Editing template code is possible but keep a copy of the original. Shopify updates default templates over time.
