How to Add the Meta Pixel to Shopify
Install the Meta pixel and Conversions API through the official Facebook and Instagram channel, then verify events.
The Meta pixel lets you measure and optimise Facebook and Instagram ads. Use the official channel rather than pasting pixel code so purchase events and the Conversions API work properly.
Create a pixel in Meta Events Manager
In Events Manager create a new dataset or pixel for your store and note its name.
Install the Facebook and Instagram channel
From the Shopify App Store install Facebook and Instagram, then connect your Facebook account, business portfolio and page.
Connect the pixel and choose data sharing
Select your pixel, then pick a data sharing level. Maximum enables the Conversions API for better attribution.
Check customer privacy settings
Confirm your consent banner and data collection rules under Settings, then Customer privacy, so tracking respects visitor choices.
Verify events
Use the Meta Pixel Helper browser extension and Events Manager Test events to confirm PageView, AddToCart and Purchase fire once each.
Watch out
Never install the same pixel through the channel and a theme snippet at the same time. Duplicate events wreck your reporting and ad optimisation.
